Storey's in the Dirt — Conversations

Real people. Real work. Stories worth gathering.

I love talking with people.

It's been my experience that many go unsung. I meet people who are doing the most meaningful work, or who have lived extraordinary lives that often go untold. They're usually the most fascinating people I know.

If that sounds like you — or someone you know — I'd like to have a conversation with you or them.

These conversations usually happen in person, when possible, and they're unhurried. There's no script and no performance. Just time and attention.

I value these conversations enough that I decided to make a podcast so they could be shared. I'm starting locally, grounded in our community and the surrounding areas.

Who I Tend to Talk With

The people I sit down with don't think of themselves as "podcast guests." I don't think of myself as a podcaster — just someone who enjoys conversations.

I mostly find myself talking with farmers, builders, DIYers, tradespeople, veterans, charity and local market organizers, business owners of all kinds, engineers, and landmen — typically people wearing more hats than anyone notices.

Some are keeping old knowledge alive.

Some are adapting it forward.

Most of us are just doing the work and enjoying the days in between.

There's no age cap.

No résumé required.

No polished story expected.

A Few Boundaries

This isn't a debate show.
It's not a political platform.
And it's not a branding opportunity.

I'm not interested in shaping narratives or managing optics. I am interested in listening and learning.

How the Conversations Work

Conversations are recorded.

They're usually in person.

They aren't edited for comfort.

Not every conversation is released.

Respect is a given — and expected.

If You're Interested

You can apply to be part of a conversation, or you can recommend someone local who should be heard.

The form is simple.

Not every submission becomes a recording.

That's intentional.

If this feels like a fit, it probably is.
If it doesn't, that's okay too.
