Holistic Homestead

No matter where you live, much of the homesteading lifestyle is scalable to a back patio, suburban home or rural homestead.

On my little farm, I raise heirloom vegetable, culinary & medicinal herbs, flowers and wildflowers, heritage poultry and registered KuneKune Pigs. This year we will also be adding mushrooms to the homestead. I’ll take you with me through spring, summer, fall and winter gardening, winter planting, garden starts, propagation house or nursery, greenhouse, direct seeding, succession planting, intercropping, companion planting, perennial plants, annual plants, berries, mushrooms, harvesting all parts of plants and ways to store them, growing for seed keeping, seed storage, living walkways, trellising, hügelkultur, landscaping with hedges and swells, gardening tools and maintenance, wildcrafting, natural crafting, compost, soil, amendments, homemade garden amendments (including foliar sprays, ferments, teas, wildcrafting indigenous biology and more), beekeeping for the garden and gardening for bees, and so much more! 

I’ll share with your my experiments as I install fencing for the homestead, garden and animals, water systems including wells, water catchment, gravity-fed water, irrigation, animal water, gravel for the drive and parking areas, barns, storage, animal shelters, animal husbandry, ISHTF, preparedness, self-sustainability, food stores and how to can, dehydrate, distil, smoke among other food storage solutions, DIY solutions, emergency solution for us and animals, constructing buildings and repurposing containers, and so much more!
